Battery Operated Fans for Camping

Camping can be a lot of fun if you have all the right equipment to keep you comfortable while you are out in the woods. Since electricity is generally one of the things that is not present when you are out camping, it’s good to have all the things that you need in portable versions. From chairs to tents to even fans, all of it needs to be both easy to carry around and sturdy enough to withstand the rugged elements.

Since your camping items have to be portable you should look for fans that are either solar-powered, battery-powered, or rechargeable. The cheapest among the three will be battery-powered fans. And since fans are extremely important if you’re planning a midsummer camping trip you should always make sure to have at least one for each tent.

Battery Operated Fans for Camping There are a number of battery operated fans for camping on the market, but I’ve found some to be more functional than others. Among my favorite products are the Coleman Free-Standing Tent Fan and the Coleman Cool Zephyr Ceiling Fan with Light, both of which run on D-cell batteries. The ceiling fan mounts to the top of the tent while the free-stander can be placed just about anywhere you need extra cooling. These fans go for about $15 apiece, so they are quite affordable, and certainly make camping on those hot/humid nights a lot more comfortable. Of course it’s still no match for an air conditioned bedroom, but then again it’s awfully hard to toast marshmallows by the fire when you’re sitting at home.

I’ve found these fans give you about two nights worth of cooling on a set of batteries if left on all night. While this might not seem like a lot, it’s actually pretty good considering how much power they put out. Just remember to bring enough batteries, depending on how many night you will be camping (and bring an extra set or two just in case your results are different than mine).
