As I was watching the dramatic rescue of the Chilean miners I couldn’t help but think how easy it would be to make an awesome Chilean miner Halloween costume. Costumes related to current events are always the most popular at Halloween parties. Two years ago it was all about Barack Obama and Sarah Palin. Last year it was Michael Jackson and (gulp) Billy Mays. This year I have a feeling the miners will be a hip choice among people who waited until the last minute to decide on a costume. It’s hard to get more current than this.
An Easy Miner Halloween Costume
So what do you need for a cool miner costume? Not much really. You’ll need a construction hard hat, preferably one with a light on the front. You’ll need a jumpsuit like the ones the miners wore when they were rescued. A pair of sunglasses is important as well. For an added touch you could even pick up a Chile flag patch and place above your breast pocket.

And for a jumpsuit, this green military-style jumpsuit will work. You could even wear a tan t-shirt over the jumpsuit to make it look even more like the Chilean miners when they were rescued.
