How Chaise Lounges Work

Not many furniture pieces are suited for use indoors and outside. Indoor furniture falls under the stereotype of being more comfortable than outdoor furniture. Well now there is a type of seat that is super comfortable and is made in models for both atmospheres- the chaise lounge chair. Chaise lounges are a form of lounge chair that is entirely adjustable. They sit only a foot or two off the ground and are quite long. In fact they are long enough as to allow the user to spread out to their full body length while using it. A closer look at the design of a chaise lounger will reveal a series of joints at the base of the back and at the knee area.

This hardware is designed to allow the sections to adjust under the user’s command. With the back upright and the legs down, the outdoor chaise lounger takes the form of a typical chair. With the legs and back both flat, the chaise forms a bed-like shape. This versatility allows for maximum flexibility and comfort. Wooden chaise lounge chairs are designed with slats across the usable surface which the user will lay on. However, this orientation is not comfortable for some. Additional coziness can be obtained by applying a chaise lounge cover to the top. These covers strap onto the surface and move with the joints. An even easier option is to buy a chaise lounge with covers already installed.

Pre-installed covers are designed to fit the folding lounge chair with perfection, consisting of soft fabric filled with cushiony cotton or synthetic materials. The cushion separates the hard wood or metal surface of the lounge from the body, making it more comfortable to sit on. Some lounges require no cushioning whatsoever, such as the zero gravity chaise lounge. A zero gravity lounge is made of metal with a synthetic fabric backing. This is one of the most comfortable types of indoor/outdoor chairs you can get buy as there are no bars constricting your movement and the chair can easily adjust into any comfortable position.
