Materials Used for Upholstered Bar Stools

Upholstered bar stools are great for those who want to be comfortable while sitting on a stool. The upholstery also enhances the look of the stool, giving it a softer appearance perfect for the kitchen or a home bar. Many people prefer upholstered stools because they are padded with comfortable foam. Even the mini backrests of these bar stools can be padded and upholstered to make the user more comfortable. So what types of upholstered bar stools are out there? These stools come upholstered in a number of different materials:

Upholstered Bar StoolsFabric- This type of material is the cheapest among the materials that are typically used. There are a lot of printed designs that you can choose from with fabric. Although it can easily be installed on the stool because it is soft, it can also be stained easily. This is why people who use fabric as the material for the upholstery of the stool often use another covering made of transparent plastic so that the fabric will be protected.

Microfiber- This synthetic material is a bit more expensive but has a number of benefits. First of all, microfiber will not easily be damaged or stained. Also, air can easily pass through the microfiber so the person sitting on the stool will not sweat while sitting.

Pure leather- Probably the most expensive material for upholstering, leather is well known for its durability–especially if you know how to care for it. A special type of oil should be applied to the leather in order to keep it shiny and sturdy. If it gets dry there is a tendency for it to peel off. However, the nice thing about pure leather is that even if the outer skin peels off, its inner lining will remain intact so the foam inside the seat will not be exposed. This is the major benefit of the pure leather.

Synthetic leather-Synthetic leather is a cheaper version of pure leather. Although it may look very similar to genuine leather, once you touch the material you will easily be able to distinguish the difference. Synthetic leather is harder than pure leather and you will also notice that it is thinner. Although this type of material is cheaper, the downside is that once the outer skin starts to peel off the inner lining will also start to get damaged as well, thereby exposing the foam underneath.

Choosing the right type of material for your upholstered bar stools depends on where you are going to use them. If it is going to be used in public, such as in a bar or restaurant, it will be best to choose a sturdy material like pure leather so that it will be able to withstand constant usage. If the stools are for home use you can choose whatever fits with your existing decor.
